Description
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
+ Must be capable of using tools and systems common to the trade such as hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, micrometers, calipers, welding, pipefitting, etc..
+ Work is characterized by use of independent judgment and technical knowledge when assigning and monitoring the work of others.
+ Performs routine maintenance of machinery to keep equipment in working order.
+ Inspects for visual defects, maintains and cleans workstations after completion.
Education / Skills Required:
+ 8+ years of related work experience.
+ Competencies generally associated with a 2 year Technical degree or equivalent
+ Applies advanced skills in area of specialization. May adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs.
+ Must possess the ability to complete required training, may include reading and writing skills.
+ Must possess the diagnostic capabilities to rebuild complex parts and machinery.
+ Works under minimal supervision. May periodically assist in orientation, training, assigning and checking the work of lower level employees
Equipment Used
+ As mechanic, performs trouble shooting and preventive maintenance on equipment.
+ Uses various work and mechanical tools, rulers, scales, calipers, and basic blueprints, etc.
+ Also use personal protective equipment, (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, respirator as required and protective gloves), PC.
Job Objective
+ Under general supervision must be able to install, maintain, and fabricate various pieces of equipment as required by production. Must possess above average mechanical skills. Must possess above average skills in welding, cutting torch use, pipe fitting, rigging of equipment, including set up of new equipment. Must have exceptional carpentry skills. Must have above average skills in machinery alignment and leveling. Must have a better that average knowledge of brake and forming presses up to four hundred (400) tons.
Essential Functions
+ Must meet training and/or experience performance qualifications for the position as outlined by Crane Merchandising Systems.
+ Completes required safety/orientation training i.e. ? hearing conservation, lock out/tag out, hazard communications, etc. Must know how to obtain Hot Work Permits and Confined Space Entry Permits.
Job Standards and Critical Skills
+ Must enter position with knowledge of essential blueprint reading, shop mathematics, mechanical tools, equipment knowledge and maintenance techniques normally acquired through (7) seven years or more plant maintenance experience.
+ Must be able to demonstrate skills as outlined within the position description.
+ Must have the ability to understand the coordination of maintenance projects and tasks.
+ Must have the ability to apply analytical skills to detailed projects.
+ Must possess the diagnostic capabilities to rebuild complex parts and machinery.
+ Position requires reading and writing skills in order to use and understand technical manuals and job procedures.
+ Must possess the manual dexterity to use a wide variety of tools to accomplish these tasks.
+ Utilizes a wide variety of measuring equipment including calipers, analog calipers, digital calipers, rulers, scales, etc. to check accuracy of work performed.
+ Must be able to use gas cutting equipment, fabrication. Must be able to use stick and wire welder.
+ Must operate forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts. Must be able to use automated maintenance system.
+ Must be able to communicate any problems, complex breakdowns to Lead Mechanic, Supervisor, and next shift employees.
+ Must possess the physical stamina to walk, stand, stoop, or bend up to 100% of shift.
+ Must possess the manual dexterity to handle various tools in order to clean and lubricate line equipment and machinery.
+ Must be able to tolerate limited exposure to certain chemical used in cleaning process.
+ Must be able to read and interpret blueprints to perform scheduled repairs and preventive maintenance.
+ Must possess the analytical ability to read and interpret blueprints in order to determine source of mechanical problems.
+ Must be able to utilize technical knowledge to isolate problem area and repair, rebuild, replace or make adjustment in order to maintain proper operation.
+ Must be able to use various work tools up to 90% of shift. Must possess the physical stamina to walk, stand, stoop or bend or lie flat on the floor for 100% of shift. Must be able to climb ladders, platforms and not be afraid of reasonable heights, i.e. fifty (50) feet.
+ Must be able to make essential electrical adjustments to machinery in which requires training.
+ Must be physically able to lift with both hands to fifty (50) pounds, (motors, pulleys, pumps, etc.) from floor level to waist level or vice-versa at least Two (2) times per shift and a carrying distance of ten (10) feet.
+ Must be able to read and write in order to fill out reports. Requires the analytical ability to determine and list cause of downtime, time, station, and corrective action taken, amounts, etc.
+ Must possess the analytical ability to understand safety hazards. Must possess the ability to complete required training, may include reading and writing skills.
+ Must be able to tolerate required safety equipment. Vision protection (safety glasses), hearing protection (earplugs) must be worn at all times.
Non-Essential Job Functions
+ Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
+ Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor (may include forklift duties). Supports safety Five - S and housekeeping initiatives to maintain a safe, clean, orderly environment.
+ Supports in conducting weekly audits (including Safety Five - S).
+ Position requires reading and writing skills in order to use and understand technical manuals and job procedures.
+ Performs various housekeeping duties such as sweeping, cleaning, and painting.
+ Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
+ Makes sure line is set for next shift.
+ Supports Five - S and housekeeping initiatives to maintain a safe, clean, orderly environment.

+ Must possess the manual dexterity to use house service tools. Must be able and willing to adapt to ?other duties?.
+ Must be able to operate forklifts. Must be able to identify hazards, etc.
