POSITION TITLE: Staff Accountant Sr. Level
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Assistant Controller
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the close process with journal entries and analytics, reconciling accounts, compliance and SOX related duties as they relate with accounts the role owns, and assistance with any audits the business is subject to.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
+ Analyzes data to perform routine journal entries, and non-routine entries as needed.
+ Ensures accuracy in the statement of accounts assigned to the role for financial reporting purposes.
+ Reconciles accounts assigned to the role in a timely fashion that meets CMS and Crane Co. compliance needs.
+ Reconciles and ensures intercompany bills are paid as appropriate and on time.
+ Maintain and balance inter-company accounts with other Crane divisions.
+ Responsible for loading and maintaining the Hyperion financial reporting system.
+ Works with AP staff to file sales tax returns for all states in which CMS operates.
+ Work with state sales tax auditors.
+ Work with Crane internal and external auditors and ensure SOX compliance under the Controller for accounts and duties assigned to the role.
+ Adhere to all Company policies, safeguard the company's interests and act in an ethical and legal manner as well as report all violations of Company policies and procedures to appropriate management.
+ Complete governmental reports and surveys when assigned (headcount, manufacturing activity, etc.)
+ Act as a liaison with other departments in analyzing financial information, and business partnering to ensure non-finance budget owners understand the financials they impact.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor?s Degree Accounting.
Experience:
+ 5-7 years of experience with progressive advancement in the field of expertise.
+ High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
+ Ability to appropriately handle confidential information
+ Strong analytical skills.
+ SOX implementation and process control experience
+ Demonstrated teamwork and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
+ Proficient in the knowledge and use of MS Office (Word, Excel).
+ Experience with Hyperion and AS400 Accounting Systems desired.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
